ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on questionnaire design and implementation. More specifically, the authors focus on their own experiences of using a questionnaire as a research tool in the field of mathematics education. Some of the key principles that need to be considered during both the design and the implementation phases will be explored – for example, deciding upon the type of questions to be included, piloting, and modes of administration. All the suggestions about best practices that will be offered in relation to the many pertinent issues are based on existing research and the authors’ own experiences as researchers in contemporary STEM education research.
