ABSTRACT

In this chapter, I operationalize the processes associated with conducting action research; profile examples of two action research studies in STEM teacher education; and provide resources for learning more about using action research as a methodology in one’s practice. My aim is to leverage a considerable body of knowledge and experience in conducting action research in science education. In this chapter, I explicate action research as a credible and methodologically coherent approach to working between what is problematic, unknown, and challenging to what can become responsive, mindful, and transformative visions for improving learning and teaching in STEM education.
