ABSTRACT

The China Railway Express is an important part of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). It has not only achieved major breakthroughs in the scale of operation, covered areas, and categories of goods, but also formed a relatively clear and stable operation pattern in the past several years. This is mainly due to the deepening of China’s reform and opening up, the advancement of the BRI, and the establishment and improvement of coordination mechanisms between China and countries along the route. However, there are still many problems restricting the development of China Railway Express, and some of them have also become increasingly apparent, such as: unclear market positioning, inefficient coordination mechanisms, and insufficient infrastructure in some countries. For the purpose of promoting the stability and long-term development of China Railway Express freight trains, sorting out the dominant logic, strengthening the coordination mechanism, optimizing the route layout, and serving regional cooperation are crucial.
