ABSTRACT

Collectively, these places make cities livable, productive and socially sustainable for residents, workers and visitors. The smart cities movement, including new technological hardware, software and processes is proving to be a vehicle for councils and city designers to rethink place design and management, and the relationship between people and the public realm.
