ABSTRACT

Dashboards offer a potential solution for integrating fragmented data collected by healthcare services. By transforming siloed data into meaningful information that can be quickly accessed and easily understood, dashboards can support decision-making and inform quality improvement activities. This essay discusses common dashboard design features, the difference between clinical and quality dashboards, and the potential uses of dashboards. The essay then provides an overview of the following six key facilitators and barriers to effective dashboard implementation: co-design with users, user-friendly, accessibility, data accuracy, uses existing infrastructure, and alignment with current workflows.
