ABSTRACT

Dissemination of biomedical research findings to a range of key stakeholders is essential if we are to translate health interventions into population health benefit. In order to improve this flow from science to practice, the complexity of information dissemination must be understood. The US National Institutes of Health and other funders have prioritized building the knowledge base on dissemination as key in transforming scientific discoveries into improvements in clinical, community, and public health practice. This brief essay discusses key challenges in dissemination of evidence and suggestions for improving the understanding and uptake of evidence-based health interventions.
