ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a family consultation that Dr. Salvador Minuchin conducted with the Wilson family—a family seen by a family therapist trainee and presented in Chapter 11 of The Craft of Family Therapy. The chapter provides an in-depth session transcript of this consultation. The authors offer commentary on the consultation, providing a juxtaposition with the tacks and interventions taken by the supervisee in previous sessions with this same family. The chapter ends by presenting a conclusion of what the reader can learn from this session, including areas of externalizing the problem, layers of identity, and family organization.
