ABSTRACT

As we have read so far in this book, many health emergencies are directly linked to our environment. During COVID-19, attention to climate change and species depletion has been somewhat sidelined. In this bonus chapter, we pose questions to Dr Alan B. Franklin about zoonosis and the link to climate. Dr Franklin, a supervisory research biologist from the USDA National Wildlife Research Center in Colorado, USA, researches the ecology and dynamics of wildlife populations, integrating wildlife population ecology with wildlife disease ecology, pathogen surveillance and monitoring in wildlife, and the ecology of pathogens in wildlife populations at the wildlife-agricultural and wildlife-human interfaces.
