ABSTRACT

This chapter highlights that digitalisation is not just about “more, faster, cheaper,” but its ability, also, to enhance or support other types of value. The authors link digitalisation to sustainability, by introducing the concept of digitalisation for sustainability. They propose a more open and collaborative consideration of digitalisation for sustainability to alleviate the established myopic view of digitalisation as merely the implementation of technology. They stress the need, also, to consider the sustainability of the digitalisation process. The chapter concludes by highlighting some opportunities for future research and some implications for practice.
