ABSTRACT

The book ends with a chapter reflecting on the key themes addressed by the different authors and considering their relevance to the crises we currently face. The author was informed by ongoing discussions with others about the challenging context of living and working in a world in crisis beset by collective traumas and by her personal context during a period of dramatic change. The nine interlocking themes discussed include crisis and opportunity, the differences between revolutionary and evolutionary change, the importance of right-brain processes and rituals to facilitate change, and the centrality of the therapeutic relationship. The chapter reiterates some of the challenges raised by the other contributors about the need to re-vision our therapeutic assumptions and ends with a reminder that, although not always easy to see, there are often gifts in troubles.
