ABSTRACT

History demonstrates that our climate has always been changing for various reasons. However, in the history of human civilization, the climate has never changed so rapidly. Today, it is not the change itself which is alarming scientists, it's the speed of change. This chapter explores climate change through an historical lens. It explores significant historical climatic events and human responses. Various classroom strategies for historical exploration are presented, including story, working with time lines, developing artefacts, creating time capsules and solving historical mysteries.
