ABSTRACT

Increased natural resource consumption and related waste production are rapidly leading to great social and environmental challenges and the formation of landscapes of waste. These wastescapes are particularly vulnerable to the uncertainties of climate change and population growth, and their problems are further exacerbated by limitations of food, energy and fresh water at the local level. In 2018, the National Taiwan University research team initiated a three-stage process. Academics were invited to share their knowledge and experience in the field to introduce design concepts and techniques, together with environmental solutions. The design of the first pilot zone provides an opportunity to tackle nature-based solutions. It plays a major role in urban mobility.
