ABSTRACT

In admiration of the Exhibition of 1851, as a great national undertaking, and not holding worldly possessions – to become a contributor, and fulfil my heart’s best wishes towards it in this respect – I was resolved to sing the praises of its great projectors, contributors, &c.; or, in other words, to pay tribute to whom I considered tribute was due, and a grateful acknowledgment to the Great Giver of all good; and as the present effusions are from the pen of a very humble working man, I am in hopes they will be read with some indulgence on this account, as I can honestly declare I have written from the best and purest motives, to commemorate the long-to-be-remembered Exhibition of 1851.
