ABSTRACT
Liberty, true liberty, would totally annihilate such a gross outrage, and utterly abolish all institutions which enabled the idle speculator to absorb the wealth which belongs to industry. A state, in which true liberty, or, government by the whole people, existed, would adopt measures to reverse the present system, and despite the learned diatribes of the gambling fraternity, and the yells of despair which capital might bellow forth, they would remove every trace of the fraudulent machinery by which the wages of labour find its way into the coffers of idleness. The application of political theory to social practice is the question which concerns the real seekers for liberty.
