ABSTRACT
This chapter is about some of the Indigenous Studies teaching resources available today. Thirty years ago, resources suitable for primary and secondary classrooms were few and far between. The chapter offers advice for teachers on appropriate resources and identifies some resources. It examines a sample of the teaching resources available. A DVD can often convey higher-order concepts more quickly than other teaching resources. Not only do DVDs capture the interest of students, they also provide teachers with a ready resource for conveying a diversity of Indigenous viewpoints. Indigenous involvement in Indigenous Studies activities is the best resource available to teachers. Indigenous people know their culture, their history, the effects of that history and the current issues. Local Indigenous people are the custodians of their culture and history. Several outstanding collections of Aboriginal writings are available. These are invaluable teaching resources for conveying a variety of Indigenous people’s perspectives on a wide range of issues.
