ABSTRACT

Rural crime and justice are research areas that have been studied from a wide range of methodological approaches. No one knows the future with any certainty, but a range of changes seem to be on the horizon. These changes will open the door to new approaches to the study of rural crime and justice or to modifications to existing approaches. This chapter focuses on select areas where change seems likely to impact rural research, including technology, crowdsourced data, satellite imagery, climate change, collaboration across disciplines, and international research.
