ABSTRACT
This introductory chapter offers an overview of the history and context, sources, characteristics, key themes, and debates on Indian political thought in India. It discusses the various sections under which ideas of particular thinkers are critically examined, while pointing to their life, legacy, and relevance to contemporary times. The chapter also explores the ideas of some thinkers other than those included in the individual chapters.
