ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at some of Dr Ambedkar’s major ideas and contributions, including the Hindu social order, as he started his academic journey from critically analysing caste and its manifestation in different forms. His passion for democracy, equal rights to women, nation and nationalism, constitution-making, etc. are discussed in this chapter as well as his concern for minority rights and fraternity between majority and minority. The chapter argues that he was much ahead of his times and that is why he became so popular.
