ABSTRACT
This chapter highlights the struggles and experiences as well as contribution of Jagjivan Ram, who is popularly known as Babuji. Due to his organising capacity and various meaningful skills, he became successful in bringing all the depressed and marginalised classes under one roof. He tried to reform the society in each sector, such as political, social, and economic. His economic vision and solutions for the mammoth problem of inequality are highlighted in this chapter, which also highlights his solution for the uplifting of the downtrodden section of society. In short, this chapter offers insight into Ram’s contribution in the pre-independence and post-independence eras.
