ABSTRACT
This chapter will offer the reader an overview of paediatric nursing care in acute care settings, and a description of family-centred care: the dominant model of care in paediatrics. It will provide the reader an introduction to challenges for nurses caring for children and their families in hospital, and a discussion about how to support young people and their families in transition between paediatric and adult health care services.
