ABSTRACT
This chapter will offer the reader an insight into the history and current contexts of nursing older people, an outline of the key health issues facing older people and a description of contemporary contexts where the nursing of older people occurs. It will provide readers with an opportunity to build a knowledge base and develop nursing skills specific to older people and an overview of future challenges to nursing and nurses who practice in this area.
