ABSTRACT
This chapter will offer the reader insight into the definitional evolution of nursing informatics, a description of the transformation of data within the healthcare landscape and an outline of the key informatics innovations and issues facing nurses in the primary health setting. It will also set out the key informatics innovations and issues facing nurses in the acute care setting, providing an overview of future trends in health informatics that will impact on nurses delivering care.
