ABSTRACT

Today’s cities are facing big challenges. Climate change, urban population growth, emigration fluxes, population aging and natural resources depletion are some of the most important issues that claim the attention of urban planners (Galderisi, 2014). Indeed, each of the aforementioned dynamic processes stresses urban systems, applying pressure on all the different social, economic, and ecological sectors that support the overall quality of life both inside and outside the city.
