ABSTRACT
The interest of this book rests in the different perspectives of two important intellectuals who have written prominent books about education and interculture. Zygmunt Bauman and Agostino Portera are two successful examples of intercultural identity because both have lived in several different countries experimenting and deeply understanding the condition of “exiled” as it happened to Juan Goytisolo, Alfred de Musset and Jacques Derrida, a condition that offers a broader spectrum and enables foreseeing what is going to happen in the future. The main difference between them is Portera’s optimism and Bauman’s pessimism, with the latter insisting on the necessity of the artist or the sociologist to focus attention on those aspects of our deeply corrupt world that are allowed to remain unnoticed.
