ABSTRACT

Education has not only maintained marginalization but has also aggravated it. The fact that the education system has neither taken a stand in favour of the marginalized nor questioned their exploitation makes the marginalized section sceptical about it. Primarily the education system that the people have has accepted the social system the people, and has never really questioned the kind of exploitation or the oppression that this system has perpetrated for ages. Personally, the people have talked to the slum children and they have seen the kind of struggle they would wage to pass the 10 Standard and then go for a job while taking up simultaneously a correspondence course or distance learning. Education is so connected to every other aspect of society be it politics or any other such aspect, that it is really a challenge to build an education system that can be a meaningful intervention in the people lives.
