ABSTRACT

Different varieties of Englishes have been investigated extensively in recent years within World Englishes studies. There has been increasing attention on whether these varieties could be included as a part of formal English curricula. This chapter aims to provide a theoretical discussion of the possibility of integrating Hong Kong English into the local English curriculum, with the potential benefits to both teachers and learners within Hong Kong. The discussion will further extend to whether the implementation could apply to other contexts globally. An activity that includes a task-based guided role-play on code-switching will be introduced at the end of this chapter for teachers.
