ABSTRACT

This chapter presents Wraparound – an intersectoral, coordinated, culturally safe, holistic, community-based, highly adaptable to individual needs – as a promising intervention to address the needs of the youth who have little family support and those at risk for isolation from their family systems. In New Zealand, Wraparound was initially designed to provide an effective intervention in the lives of children and adolescents with highly complex needs. It also targets youth who are at risk of placement, or already live, in out-of-home settings. Research continues to demonstrate Wraparound's efficacy with diverse populations, regardless of the severity and complexity of the needs that the youth and their families present. Hence, it is a viable and promising intervention that is adaptable to diverse settings, needs, and populations worldwide.
