ABSTRACT

The aim of the study is to present the YounGo project and mobile app, which is a program aimed to support institutionalized children and youth in starting their independent life. The app focuses on issues linked to becoming an adult, like: continuous learning, housing, sexuality, staying sober, networks of relationships, finding a job, and becoming a parent. The primary target group consists of children and young people, aged 12–30, growing up without a family. Before presenting the YounGo app and other online support tools, challenges of raising children in a period of post-modernism are briefly discussed. Following that, in order to provide insight in relation to the context, the Hungarian child protection system is shortly presented, and educational challenges are discussed from the perspective of child protection.
