ABSTRACT
This chapter discussed how educational biographers can utilize tools from critical race theory (CRT) to engage and explore the experiences of people of color. Using testimonios and consejos, the author presented a counter-story of her family’s approach to higher education. She also described experiences collecting data as a participant and a researcher as well as her perspective on being a Latina in academia conducting research in a space typically overshadowed by the Black/White binary narrative.
