ABSTRACT

In Latin America, leadership and collaboration, culturally speaking, are seen as opposing processes. However, relationships are core to this same Latin American cultural context. In this sense, strengthening leadership by building on everyday relationships within the educational community is something which should be supported. The most relevant aspects in this chapter are related to involving in teaching development to others who participate in the programmes. Likewise, coordinating meeting spaces and ensuring their attendance is a recurring theme within university contexts. An example of this has been the COVID-19 crisis in Latin America. It forced everyone to work collaboratively to move forward in the face of adversity. The challenge is how to sustain it over time beyond the pandemic. And this is precisely the contribution of this chapter, providing guidance and light on moving forward together beyond individual responsibilities within the institution.
