ABSTRACT

The strength of Hamilton and Donaldson is their skill in framing the curriculum as a living system in a department and institution that merits continuous attention to be relevant and contemporary. The storyline is the important skills and knowledge that learners will need, which typically focuses on hard and soft skills. The growing awareness that curriculum needs to encompass areas beyond disciplinary knowledge such as social and emotional learning and civic engagement and awareness. The comprehensive learner records and digital wallets are going to multiply the types of materials that students will present to demonstrate their learning experiences. Hamilton and Donaldson's framework for the PL role as an academic manager who supports and leads curriculum change development and management is a viable model for tending to the curriculum while maintaining the faculty's ability to manage their multiple responsibilities, creating linkages to other areas with similar priorities such as the teaching, learning centres and managing change both from internal, external forces.
