ABSTRACT

The sudden move to remote teaching during early 2020 shined a direct spotlight on the need for educators to have a clear understanding of what it means to teach at a distance. The chapter’s primary focus is on describing a framework that explains the underlying elements that make up distance education. The understanding of this framework can assist educators in developing a distance educator mindset that includes a set of attitudes, dispositions, skills, and knowledge necessary to design and facilitate effective learner-centered distance learning experiences. An educator who has a distance educator mindset is capable of providing powerful learning anytime, anywhere through technology.
