ABSTRACT
When assessing the effectiveness of any intervention, the first thing that should be evaluated is the integrity with which the intervention is implemented. This chapter outlines the importance of implementing interventions with integrity and how it can be addressed in practice. Intervention Integrity, also referred to as Intervention Fidelity, is defined as “the delivery of an intervention or program as designed”. In order to maximize the possibility of success, it is important to follow the intervention plan as it was designed in order to ensure it is implemented correctly. This chapter describes key factors that influence treatment integrity including intervention characteristics, interventionist characteristics, and student characteristics. In addition, a discussion of methods to ensure integrity of implementation is provided.
