ABSTRACT

Since tootling is a multicomponent intervention, it is important to address the different components within tootling that lead to its effectiveness in increasing on-task behavior and decreasing disruptive behavior in a group setting. These components are as follows: peer-mediation; training procedures used; the interdependent group-oriented contingency; and the multiple aspects of feedback used during the intervention, such as specific feedback, immediacy of feedback, public posting of progress, and praise. Each of the components of tootling will be discussed with evidence of the effectiveness of each component individually based on previous research. Descriptions are provided in how each of these components are utilized during the implementation of tootling.
