ABSTRACT

This chapter will provide an overview of how to collect data that will be useful for the planning and evaluation of the tootling intervention. Different types of data can provide a variety of valuable information related to when, why, and how often problem (and appropriate) behaviors occur. Having a better understanding of the behaviors will assist in the effective development and implementation of the tootling intervention. The chapter is constructed to first review methods for gathering data that will help to provide insight into the reasons that problems may be occurring in the classroom. Next, we will look at how to accurately record the occurrences of both problem and appropriate behaviors to establish baseline. Finally, we will review the importance of maintaining data collection practices from baseline to intervention.
