ABSTRACT

It has been expressed about the valuable contribution of forensic dentistry in expert investigation through its methodologies and techniques, which have made it possible to grant unequivocal identity to human remains when the study of fingerprints has been unfeasible. Likewise, it has emerged as a valid alternative at the crime scene and in situations of domestic violence in cases of child, spousal or elder abuse, through the analysis of injuries in the skullfacial segment and bite marks. emphasized regarding the decisive interference that means the correct discovery, fixation, collection, preservation and transport of the evidence in a forensic investigative course. In this sense, the adoption of procedural guidelines is unavoidable, requiring the intervention of multiple actors when addressing the place of the accidental and/or criminal event. To the extent that the first responders, usually police personnel and/or provincial or federal security forces, carry out effective work, the contribution of forensic experts, whatever their specialty, will be favorably influenced, giving the investigation potential better results. It is necessary to consider that many times it is feasible to find dental traces at the site of the event under investigation and the first contact with said evidence is not carried out by a dental expert, so the police officers and/or security forces should have the information and instruction that allows them to recognize it, for its correct treatment.
