ABSTRACT

In this chapter we start our enquiry with the question ‘‘What if’ and ‘what else’ are the children doing? The data we draw on are from an international project between the LEGO Foundation and the Universities of Sheffield (UK) and Cape Town (SA) on learning and creativity in digital play. Karin was the Principal Investigator of the South African study involving seven pre-primary and primary schools in South Africa. As we theorise the practice using critical posthuman theories, we rephrase our original question and take the reader on a sticky journey that leaves traces. We re-turn to some of the data and pay attention to the dynamics of the relationships between the researchers (Karin, Joanne and Nadia), children and the more-than-human (e.g. the technology).
