ABSTRACT

Emotional intelligence (EI) is an emerging field in Lithuania. This chapter will present areas of EI development since the re-establishment of Lithuania as an independent state in 1990. First, the social conditions of Lithuania and the importance of EI for addressing social problems in youth and in the larger society will be presented. The next section will describe the emergence of a social-emotional learning organization as an effort to promote EI. The current research of the author in education will be presented in the following section. The last sections will present selected areas of EI application with various areas such as managers, athletes, families, youth development, and health behaviors.
