ABSTRACT
This chapter outlines long-term care development in Thailand in relation to Universal Health Coverage scheme, local government, and communities. It first discusses the history and current national policy on older persons followed by projected long-term care needs in Thailand. The chapter highlights the roles of the National Health Security Office, primary health care, community-based initiatives, as well as human resources for public long-term care.
