ABSTRACT

This chapter focusses on the author’s observations and experiences of coaching an Under 15 rugby union team at an elite private catholic college in an affluent area of Sydney, Australia, in 2019. It encompasses some empirical findings and reflections on how he applied Game Sense (GS) and Positive Pedagogy (PP) during the season. It discusses elements of what he interpreted GS and PP to be, and how the players and his co-coach responded to these relatively foreign ways of working. It finishes with a discussion on how he interpreted these experiences in relation to well researched discourses on social behaviour and social environments.
