ABSTRACT
This chapter illustrates the various and overlapping circles of culture found in an international school, set against the backdrop of a school in New Delhi. The author explores how an expat teacher attempts to reconcile his own personal culture with the national culture of India and the seemingly progressive culture of the school. As he peels back the disparities around hiring and advancement that exist between local and overseas-hired teachers, he discovers a complex relationship of privilege and perception.
