ABSTRACT

This chapter, in honour of the author friend and kindred spirit Pamela Sue Anderson, is an evocation which bypasses; the usual evaluations and arguments that often prevail in philosophical conferences. One question that was often asked of the reader, given that the people both identified as feminists, was why they were particularly interested in the work of Paul Ricoeur. In 1992,Paul Ricoeur surprised many people by publishing a book on ethics: Oneself as Another. It is difficult to determine the precise influences that Ricoeur had on Pamela’s later writings, apart from the work on vulnerability. In concluding this paper, the author would like to present a section of Pamela’s own proposal that expresses her respect and admiration for the work of Paul Ricoeur and also the topics he addressed that had captured her attention.
