ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the life of Bowman Johnson at the managed station of Cherbourg, Queensland. Johnson was born in Cherbourg on the first of January 1924. It was called Barambah then. One of his parents came from nearby and the other one from Clermont, Blackall in the central district of Queensland. In the chapter, Johnson discusses his childhood days and school days, and shares his work experience on a station, outside of Charters Towers. He describes how he came back to Cherbourg, and went to rural school where he learned carpentry. Johnson also shares his work experience of checking horses in a cattle station in Springsure.
