ABSTRACT
This chapter highlights how international environmental law has impacted upon the domestic legislation of several Latin American countries, especially on the issue of creation and management of protected areas. It also explores the somewhat counter-hegemonic process of treaty production in Latin America that has global relevance, especially for the fulfilment of the Sustainable Development Goals against the backdrop of globalization.
