ABSTRACT

Although it is an autonomous international organization its statute ensures that the International Atomic Energy Agency works within the united nations (UN) system, in accordance with the purposes, principles and policies of the UN, and reports regularly on its activities, as required. In June 2016 the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Council agreed that IOM should be incorporated into the UN system as a related organization; the new relationship was formalized at a UN Summit on Addressing Large Movements of Refugees and Migrants, held in September. In June 2016 the IOM Council and subsequently the UN General Assembly approved an agreement further to strengthen co-operation between the two organizations by incorporating IOM into the UN system as a related body. In November World Meteorological Organization initiated a Global Framework for Climate Services Partnership for small island developing states, focusing on agriculture and food security, disaster risk reduction, energy, health, and water.
