ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought numerous challenges to various sectors, including the arts. In this chapter, we discuss how these disruptions are altering the arts sector. The creative professions face changes in institutional fields, policy, diversity initiatives, and the effects of technology and globalization. Digital and virtual resources have reduced the influence of traditional gatekeepers and opened up artistic production to a wider range of creators. We highlight examples of resilience in the arts sector, demonstrating how individuals, organizations, and communities adapt to the post-COVID-19 era. We propose that examining organizational resilience and a continuum of resilience goals can provide valuable insights into the challenges faced by creative professionals and arts organizations, fostering a more adaptable and robust arts sector.
