ABSTRACT

The concluding chapter reflects on various directions taken by the authors who contributed to the book, and categorises possible strategic drivers for adopted approaches. The explicit and implicit challenges of using text analytics in the context of student feedback are discussed. Key principles are identified for higher education institutions embarking on their text analytics journey. These principles call for new adaptive forms of leadership, collaboration, policy development and strategic planning. Such leadership positions the student voice at the top of the quality improvement agenda of higher education institutions and relevant organisations in the sector. Also discussed are issues of ‘ownership’ of the data and analysis, ethical considerations, and how to make data that are analysed centrally to become actionable ‘on the ground’.
