ABSTRACT

Path analysis provides magnitude estimates and significance of hypothesized causal connections between sets of variables. In this chapter we use path analysis to explore the cause–effect relationship of sustainable transport service constructs. Public transportation especially road transportation plays a critical role in developing countries as the means to commute between one place to another for work, home, visiting friends, trips and so on. Ensuring the service quality in this service, therefore, is crucial. There are limited scientific studies, however, on the use of path analysis techniques for sustainable development and sustainable transport in specific. In this chapter, the cause–effect relationship model of service quality with respect to three pillars of sustainability in relation with overall satisfaction of intercity bus transport is attempted. Influence of technology interface on satisfaction of the service is also explored.
