ABSTRACT

As one of Stephen Ball's doctoral students, Claudine Rausch traces her encounters with Ball's work across her career as a teacher. It is a career that recalls a lived experience of educational policy and in particular ‘special education’ across three decades teaching in London settings. Claudine seeks to recall policy moments in mainstream and special education over this period of time and to pay tribute to Stephen Ball and colleagues in the sociology of education. Their research, ideas, and writing ‘comes with her’, as she works with colleagues, children, and their families in struggles for inclusive schools. The chapter is an invitation for practitioners to find space to engage with educational research as a fuel for their work.
