ABSTRACT

The development of Taiwan’s bicycle industry presents a microcosm of the history of Taiwan’s industrial development. Although this industry has experienced both rises and falls, and has faced internal and external competition, it did not decay or disappear. Instead, companies collaborated by forming partnerships that generated new value-added for the industry, so that the bicycle industry has once again established a competitive advantage in global markets. This chapter briefly introduces the development of Taiwan’s bicycle industry and examines the route to prosperity taken by bicycle companies that chose to cooperate and collaborate. In addition, I discuss the product development trends of Taiwan’s major brands.
